We had been out running early morning errands and wanted to stop at Applebee’s for a quick lunch before we headed home.

They opened at 11am and we arrived shortly after.  There were a few customers already seated and they put us at a nice booth, close to a couple TVs.

Our Grandson ordered the Macaroni and Cheese with Yogurt and Strawberries

009

I ordered the Build Your Sampler-Choose 3

I started with Bowl of Tomato Basil Soup.  It was very good.

008

Then for my meal I had 2 Brew Pub Pretzels with Beer Cheese dip

014

5 Honey BBQ Boneless Wing with Celery and Ranch.  The celery looked like it was cut a few days ago.  The ends were brown and mashed up.

016

Other than the celery, my meal was as expected.

My Husband also had a bowl of the Tomato Basil Soup and ordered the Classic Bacon Cheeseburger with Fries

013

His burger bun was not fresh and completely broke apart.  He ended up eating his burger with a fork.

Our waitress was very friendly and kept our drinks filled

We enjoy going to Applebee’s and will return, just not after there’s been closed for a holiday.

This past weekend we went to Basile for lunch.  The parking lot looked full but inside there was plenty of tables and bar space to sit at.

I decided I wanted appetizers instead of a main meal.

I started with the Bruschetta $5.85

Chopped tomatoes, garlic, onions, olives and topped with parmesan cheese on crispy bread

This had lots of flavor and I would order it again.

044

I ordered the Caprese Tower and Mozzarella Sticks for my meal.

Caprese Tower $9.95

Fried Sicilian eggplant layered between fresh mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, and roasted red peppers drizzled with a balsamic reduction and shaved parmesan cheese.

045

Mozzarella Sticks $4.75

046

My Father in Law ordered the Classic Cheeseburger $4.50

It came with Chips and he added on fries

My Mother in Law ordered the Cheese Ravioli $9.95

It was served with salad & garlic bread

My husband ordered the Chicken Marsala $15.30

Pan seared with sweet Marsala wine & sautéed mushrooms

Served with salad & garlic bread

Our grandson ordered the Kids Spaghetti with Meatball $8.30

Served with cookie & soda

He enjoyed his pasta but was never offered the cookie.  We didn’t realize until after we left

043

We ordered the Oreo Mousse Cake $5.95

Lite and fluffy Oreo mousse nestled between chunks of Oreo cookies on a Oreo crust.

It was very good.

047

We have been to Basile several times in the past.  Portions are large.  We enjoyed our leftovers as our next meal.

It is a very good family restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere.

We stopped by the Voodoo grill for lunch on the Saturday of the Sailfest Fireworks, July 2015.  There was a sign on the door that said they would be closed that night so that their staff could attend the festivities.  Wish the places I worked appreciated family time like they did.

Our grandson ordered the Mac N’ Cheese with Fries $5.50

Nice sized portion and lots of flavor.  My only complaint about his meal was the crock that the Mac N Cheese was served in was blazing hot!  We had to ask for another plate to scoop it out so he didn’t get burned on it.

025

Ed ordered the Southwestern Wrap $10.95 with a side of slaw

024

I ordered the VooDoo Crispy Chicken Wrap $10.95 with side of onion rings

023

Meals and service were good.

If you can find on-street parking, grab it!  If not, there is a pay parking lot across the street.  Fair in price so take a walk downtown to work off your meal and watch the drawbridge go up while you enjoy an ice cream cone from one of the local shops.

We happened upon this restaurant because the Thai restaurant we normally go to was closed for the day.

The building doesn’t look like much from the outside but as soon as you walk in, it is a completely different story! Sushi bar on the right and dining room on the left. We were instantly greeted and sat at a very nice table. There were 2 other people in the restaurant that were focused on their meals! Our server brought us menus and water right away. Soft music in the back ground and a comfortable temperature to relax and eat to since it was wicked hot outside!

Ed had the Thai Salad $5.95
Fresh romaine lettuce, tomato, red onion, cucumber, and carrot served with house Thai Diner Dressing. They also brought a side of the house peanut sauce for it.

Both Salads were very good!

For his meal, Ed ordered the Prik Khing Stir-Fry with Chicken $11.95
Sautéed chicken with chili paste, string beans, red bell pepper and kaffir lime leaves. This had some kick and was very good!

I ordered Pad See Aew with Chicken $11.95
Stir fried flat noodle with Chinese broccoli, chicken and egg. This was excellent!

For dessert we ordered sticky rice with Mango to split $5.95 It was a perfect dish to end our meal with.

They brought the bill with a plate of orange wedges. That was very nice.

We went at dinner time. Lunch prices are lower than dinner. We will be returning to this restaurant. The food was excellent as well as the service!

Thai on Main, Northampton, PA 3 visit review

Thai on Main
961 North Street
Northampton, PA

Staff is friendly and you can watch them cook your food since they cook it in the same room!

First Visit

We both started with the Thai Salad $4

Menu describes salad as having Lettuce, tomato, carrots, bean sprout, cucumber and onion served with peanut dressing. By looking at the photo we took, it seems to be missing a few items. It was a basic no frills salad. It had fresh ingredients, but was not as described.

211

Our grandson ordered the Pineapple Fried Rice with Chicken $9

Menu describes this as having chicken, egg, pineapple, cashew nut, scallion and curry powder. Photo also does not match menu description. The dish was good, but again, not as described.

212

I ordered the Drunken Noodle with Chicken $7

Spicy broad noodles, chicken, egg, basil, broccoli, tomato, bell pepper onion and chili. This was good. Lots of flavor and I would order it again.

213

Ed ordered the Pad Prik Khing $9

String bean, chicken, red bell pepper, lime leave with prik khing curry paste. This was served with a side of Jasmine Rice. This dish had some kick and he enjoyed it.

214

For dessert we split an order of fried Banana Rolls.

215

Second Visit

Ed started with the Thai Salad $4

Lettuce, tomato, carrots, bean sprout, cucumber and onion served with peanut dressing. Again, salad did not come as described in menu.

I skipped the salad and started with the Spring Rolls $4

Carrot, cabbage, vermicelli, celery served with a plum sauce. You are served 3 rolls cut in half. They were ok and I would order them again

11214186_10206012942634042_7298315654025689502_n

For his meal, Ed ordered the Prik Prow (Chili Paste) with Chicken $9

Onion, bell pepper, cashew nut and chili paste. This had some kick to it and he enjoyed it. Said he would order it again.

10850268_10206012942594041_7847750304755312825_n

I had the Mus Sa Man Curry with chicken $7

Sweet and Sour thick (sauce with) curry with onion, carrot, peanut and potato. This was ok. If we go back I would skip this and try something else.

19400_10206012942674043_6760130049939157596_n

Both of our meals were served with Jasmine Rice.

We didn’t order dessert this time.

I suggest you call before you plan on going. The last time we went for lunch, they were closed for the day and we ended up going to another Thai restaurant.

Third Visit

This time Ed went without me. He was working in the area and ran in for a quick lunch.

Ed started with the Thai Salad $4

For his meal, Ed ordered the Prik Prow (Chili Paste) with Chicken $9

He ordered this in our last visit and wanted to try it again. Unfortunately, this time it came with Shrimp when he had ordered it with Chicken. Ed is not allergic to Shrimp and ate the meal as it was served. This could have been a deadly mistake for anyone that is allergic to Shrimp.

This will be our last visit to Thai on Main. My suggestion to anyone eating here, inspect the food you are served and make sure it is what you ordered.

Sisters Cantina, Tamaqua, PA

Sisters Cantina

Local Mexican Restaurant

I ordered the Carnitas Nachos with bbq pulled pork $8.48. They were on special that night. Menu said it was served with sour cream. It was not brought with our meal and it took a while for the waitress to return to our table so I could ask for it. She said it is served on request. (Not what the menu stated) Could have used a bit more pulled pork but overall it tasted good. I would order it again.

227

Korbyn had the Kids Chicken Tenders with French Fries. 2 pieces of boneless white fried chicken tenders with fresh cut fries, $4.99.

226

Ed ordered the Mexican Fiesta $7.29 Came with one beef taco, one cheese and onion enchilada, Spanish rice and refried beans.

My boyfriend and I stopped at this restaurant on our way to NYC. The food was so good we drive the 2 hours back for our anniversary.

051

Ed ordered the Pad Cashew with chicken. Sautéed chicken with casher nuts, onions, asparagus, carrots bell peppers in a chili sauce.

053

Served with a dish of white rice on the side. $12 it was perfect

052

For dessert we each ordered the Mango Sticky Rice. Sticky rice made with a fresh coconut milk glaze and ripe mangos on the side. $6 Save room for dessert. You will not want to share this one!

057

Ed had a soda and I had iced tea. Our bill was under $50

Lunch at Applebees on Friday the 13th!

10527547_10205105484628159_2107286284413972302_n

We started with Brew Pub Pretzels & Beer Cheese Dip.  $7.99  Came with 4 pretzel sticks and 2 dipping sauces.  They were ok.  Now that we had them, we can cross them off the list and order something different next time.

10959489_10205105484668160_6266130473735051524_n

Ed ordered the 12oz New York Strip.  $17.99  He ordered it medium and it came out medium well.  It would have been much better if it had come out as he ordered.  Vegetables were good and mashed potatoes were very good!

10997501_10205105484708161_3716292088420581622_n

I had the Appetizer Sampler for my meal.  $14.99  I had my wing sauce as Honey BBQ.  Its my favorite.  This was pretty much as is, no frills.  But I liked it!  Brought home about half of it.  It warmed up well for a snack tonight.

Overall, it was a very nice lunch and I had great company to enjoy it with!
